Some things I have written over the years

There were, as it was today...Three things which caught
my attention!

The first of these was a sound.
A sound which I remembered from when I was a young boy.
a sound which I never really have identified,
maybe it was the ice on the river, slowly settling?
Or maybe the trees complaining about the bitter cold!

It was a sort of  "CRACK" sound, which seemed to echo
into a long forgotten part of my mind!
If I had had any idea where it was first heard, I think
it wouldn't have sounded the same.......

The second was a sight!
not an everyday sight mind you, but something you never
expect too see.....except on a calendar or something.

The storm last night, left behind an incredible view!
The ice on the trees ,....covered with a generous amount
of fresh snow.

As it was a bright sunny day, the trees all looked as if
they were made of Glass with
the early afternoon sun illuminating all the essence of
a frozen rainbow....

As I was passing a Virgin snow field, my eyes became fixed
on a pair of Wolves, slowly making their way across the
Frozen tundra. How they were able to stay on top of the
still unstable crust of snow without falling through it
was mesmerizing!

I had to keep moving tho.....

The next , and last, was a memory.

When a person can remember fond things from their
past,...This is the most precious gift of all!

I remembered sliding down a hill, (my parents driveway) in
an old Roasting pan! the kind you used to use all the time
for cooking Turkey, or Pot roast.
I remembered the ice storm that brought it all about.
The narrow track, made by the tires of the old truck.
The laughter.
The bruises.
The longing to go faster!

 There were, as it was,
Three things that caught my attention today!

Sometimes at night,   I walk outside and just look up....   I take in a deep breath and just smell the stars....

This seems to bring to mind a lot of things...  especially...  The change
of the seasons....

The look of the constellations, and where they are, lets me know that it won't be long before the arrival of, (in this case) spring!  Even though I realize it's only February,
it seems as if it will be April tomorrow. With the snow almost irrelevant and the grass beginning to show the first signs of green.
That wonderful but all to scarce sunny day, warming my soul until the winters chill has faded!

Ah... The smell of the stars tells of things yet to be, and yes, still to come.....

Come with me and smell the stars tonight!

I now have a few of my own Wolf Photos taken at the Wolf Sanctuary in White River Vermont.
